CLIA has been alerted to a NEW scam being perpetrated on lodging properties. Individuals are calling properties during the night, identifying themselves as a representative with the with the property's credit card processor, and stating that the last credit card batch did not go through. They ask the night auditor for the batch number and the credit card numbers of the American Express transactions so that they can re-key the entries.
You may want to confirm with your card processor that this is not a procedure that they would employ. We encourage you to warn your night auditor and other staff of this scam, and advise that no private/confidential information should be released over the phone.
