CLIA Recognizes the Best of the Best Published on 10/14/12
At CLIA's Annual Gala Dinner on September 25, 2012 at the Hacienda Hotel, "the Best of the Best" were recognized in a sold out Awards Dinner. CLIA honors the accomplishments of hotel owners, staff members and properties as well as awarding scholarships to up-and-coming hoteliers.
This year's Award for Excellence was earned by the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel in Pismo Beach for an outstanding marketing program. The hotel, operated by Central Coast of California Hospitality created a comprehensive marketing turnaround that resulted in double digit increases in Revpar. Myraline Morris Whitaker, principal of CCC Hospitality stated, "The reason we could accomplish so much in such a short period of time was the teamwork of our staff!"
The Scholarship Committee who selected this year's recipients had a tough job this year because there were so many worthy candidates. The committee was so impressed with the caliber of applicants, that they chose to award two scholarships instead of one.
This year's scholarship recipients are both students at Cal Poly Pomona. Scholarship winner, Alejandra Saravia has a 3.9 GPA and has worked extensively in the hospitality industry. Ariel Weinshanker has a 3.66 GPA and has designed a paperless comment card system for the Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch.
Attendees at the dinner gave huge accolades to all three of the evening's shining stars.
Headquartered in Sacramento, CLIA is a member lodging and hospitality industry association, providing legislative, educational, marketing, and profit-oriented programs for independent lodging owners and operators.
